| Cloud computing has had a high demand over the past decade and is considered to be a revolution in the Information Technology. Computing platforms provide flexible and secure access to a set of high-performance computing and storage infrastructure through the Internet. It can reduce or even hide the complexity of IT infrastructure management from the end users. It can provide high scalability, 99.999% reliability depending on the SLA, and high performance. These capabilities can be provided at relatively lower costs compared to dedicated infrastructures. This article provides a summarised introduction to cloud and cloud storage. It covers the key technologies in Cloud Computing and Cloud Storage, different types of clouds services, and highlights the advantages and drawbacks of the Cloud systems.
