| Biomedical engineering is a new branch of engineering science which focuses on application of engineering in medicine. Epidemiology is a branch of medicine which deals with the occurrence, distribution, and control of diseases and other factors relating to health. An epidemic can cause huge damage through economic losses in addition to diminished health and mortality. Good epidemic models can provide insights into ongoing waves that may facilitate public health responses and other readiness. A biomedical engineer can help health authorities to forecast epidemics waves by presenting new epidemic models. This paper deals about the modeling epidemics waves. We present a mathematical model which is more compatible with the biology of epidemic than conventional models like bi_Logistic, and bi_Richards. Simulations results show that our proposed model can predict waves, and cumulative case numbers during the two waves epidemics satisfactorily. we show that the second phase of a typical epidemic can be detected by using less case data past the beginning of the epidemic. |
